Lawsuit Happy Society?

Contrary to the tort reformer cries, lawsuits for
personal injury are not 'flooding' our court system.
According to Utah State Court Statistics
personal injury lawsuits only make up 1% of the
total cases filed in 2006. More surprisingly,
there were only 230 medical malpractice cases
filed in 2006 out of a total 235,573 cases
filed. Who is the biggest offender 'plugging up'
our court system? Debt collectors, who filed a
whopping 55,719 cases in 2006. Clearly, our
court system has been hijacked by corporations
when they file more actions than the government
does in prosecuting criminals.
